Spirit
In contrast to schnaps, a spirit is produced through the distillation of macerates made from fruits, roots, or herbs. During maceration, the natural raw materials are not dissolved in alcohol. Instead, their essential oils and active ingredients are extracted and absorbed into the alcohol. The duration of maceration varies depending on the characteristics of the specific raw material and can range from a few days to several months. Subsequently, the macerate is distilled to obtain the spirit.
